Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure! It’s best to shedule a follow up with your surgeon to evaluate the area of concern to make sure it is in fact an ingrown hair or a spitting suture. At that point your surgeon will be able to determine how to proceed. Good luck and congratulations again!
Dear brielleperez,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
should be inspected by your surgeon. If an ingrown hair, it should resolve on its own after rupture and you should expect to see a hair in the material that comes out.
Hello,When incisions are made within the hair or at the edge of the hair, ingrown hairs can occur weeks or months after surgery. This problem is common after hair line browlifts because the incision is made in a special way called "trichophytic". This method of making the incision results in a very well hidden scar because the hairs will grow through the scar itself. But as you can imagine, when the hair is growing through the scar, sometimes they get trapped. The result is what looks like a pimple. The solution is quite simple. The pimple needs to be opened and the hair tweezed. I have never seen this happen more than a few months after surgery. It also would not result in the incisions opening except for the small area of the pimple. If your incision is more extensively opened, then ingrown hair is not the reason. Either way, you should visit with the doctor who did the surgery originally for diagnosis and treatment.Regards,Dr. AAustin, Texas
