Hi! I just recently had my new dental implants placed in my lower right area and a week after my tongue started to hurt like it is irritated...and it’s on the same side as my new implants. Can the implants cause my tongue pain?

I would probably suggest an extraction. All of the decay would need to be removed before definitively determining if the tooth is salvageable or not, but you can usually expect decay to extend further than it appears on an xray.

Your implants and crowns are there for 2 reasons...esthetics and function. You have to be able to chew on the implant crowns. The implant crowns should lightly touch the teeth in the opposing upper jaw.
