Nerve cut during surgery - was this negligence?

I had a smas lower facelift last year and the surgeon transected my facial nerve causing paralysis. NOT a bruise. NOT a temporary injury. An actual total transection. She then missed the injury and I had to insist on a consult fom another doctor. I finally got surgery to attempt repair and they sewed the two ends back together. I need to know if this was negligence. I am very upset about what happened and the disfigurment although it seems to be better. It caused a devastating year and economic
