I want to get done my smartlipo in 2 weeks, my current weight is 180 but I don't know if would be a good idea to try to lose a few pounds before my procedure or if it wouldn't make any difference? Because I am considering to move the date of my lipo if the losing weight would be worth it before the lipo.

Answer: It's two weeks I don't think rapid weight loss is a good idea. I don't recommend losing more than one or two pounds per week. Two weeks is not really long enough to make a difference. Ask your surgeon what he or she thinks. Please also consider their scheduling needs before moving dates around. If you change your date, are you really going to lose weight? If you know you can and will lose weight, then I suppose you can make an argument that postponing your surgery may be a good idea. It's really too individualistic of a question. It needs to be brought up with your surgeon.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
