Are nipple piercing rejections a sign that my body will reject breast implants?

There is no reason to think that your body will reject the implants because it rejected the nipple piercing. Speak with your surgeon to let him/her know of your concerns. Best of luck!

A nipple piercing being rejected by your body should not be an indicator of breast implants being rejected by your body. The nipples are one of the areas of the body that may be more prone to reject a piercing. Rejection happens when the body tries to heal over the piercing instead of around it. The rejection of your nipple piercing on the left nipple should be no indication of a problem with breast implants.

Your difficulty with nipple piercing would not be related to implants. Nipples do contain a fair amount of bacteria, and difficulties with piercings in that location is common. Plus, some bras also irritate nipple piercings.

Nipple piercing rejections are not related to implants rejecting implants. Silicone does not react to your body and therefore will not be rejected. Sometimes complications can occur such as infections or scarring, however no one will have a genuine rejection of a silicone implant by their immune system. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee MD

Thank you for the question and the simple answer is NO!   You will need to have your piercings removed ttemporarily hough at the time of surgeryDr Corbin

The nipple contains many ducts in which bacteria can concentrate, and piercing this area can and does result in a higher infection rate when piercings are performed.  However, breast augmentation surgery incisions, would avoid this area of higher infection risk.  I don't think you need to be concerned that having had a problem with your nipple piercing would result in a higher risk of breast implant infection/rejection.  Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
