question..It is necessary to apply a gel prior to treating with IPL. I recommend contacting the office for a follow up appointment with the provider about your concerns and any additional post care treatment that may help. To be sure, see two
or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to
make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have
treatment.

Sounds like your skin is burned or very irritated from the lack of gel with an IPL. Contact the physican in charge of the facility where you  had your treatment immediatley. 

I'm sorry...what?? She forgot to use the cool gel? This is 100% necessary for the majority of IPL treatments, and no technician should just "forget". You need to contact the office immediately and ask to speak to the physician in charge. This is not acceptable care, at all. "This
