I had a capsulectomy and breast explant today. They did not put an ace bandage or anything around me. Is this OK?

Good day! Surgeons have different protocols for post op for each patient and for each procedure. Some doctors would suggest you to wear a sports bra instead, but some would prefer you use a compression garment for a longer period of time. It is still best to ask your doctor about detailed information on your aftercare and strictly follow post op instructions for best results. Postop care varies depending on your situation, so call your surgeon to discuss.

It is beneficial to have some gentle compression like a wide ace wrap, chest binder, surgical bra, etc to support breasts and minimize swelling.   If a garment is too tight it can damage skin.  I personally feel a good support garment lessens pain following surgery.  Give your surgeon a call!

Every surgeon has his/her own protocol.  What your surgeon did should be fine.  Support for the surgical area is provided and the drains will help with fluid accumulation.  I encourage you to discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon.

Practices will vary; personally, I do not think that the use of an Ace bandage is necessary. I also use a bra to support dressings; I think the use of drains is also very helpful. Best wishes.

The key to success following explantation is to have the tissues adhere to one another. This can be accomplished by applying external pressure or by exerting internal suction. Some surgeons prefer one, some the other, some use both. It is the preference of the surgeon based upon his / her experience. 
It is most likely more comfortable without a tight constricting bandage. I guess you now know my preference!
