How can I treat this redness on my nose and round my nose? (photos)

Hello and thank you for your question.  Given your history, there seems to be some chronic inflammation that is creating this redness on and around your nose.  There are several treatments that are specific to targeting and breaking down  the micro blood vessels that are causing this diffuse redness.  We have had great success with our IPL (also known as photofacial), yag and Cutera Exel V treatments.  All are safe and effective and require about 2-5 treatments (spaced 3 weeks apart), with little to no downtime.  It is best to have a formal In-person consultation to get the best direction and care for your specific needs by an experienced practitioner. Best of luck!

Vbeam laser is an excellent modality for patients who have rosacea, blushing of the skin, facial and body telangiectasia, spider veins, redness, post surgical redness, and skin flushing. It is a safe procedure that can be used at varying depths to help treat micro blood vessels in the skin. We also use it in our office for facial skin inflammation, keloids, and hypertrophic scarring. It is an important part of scar therapy. Vbeam can be combined with chemical peels and other lasers, but experience with the treatment is essential. The Vbeam laser does not affect deeper tissue. Facial redness can be improved with lasers (ProYellow, Excel V, Vbeam) and microneedling/prp. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Your redness may be from Rosacea.  I recommend that you see your dermatologist for a diagnosis.  There are several options to treat Rosacea.  IPL laser and Exel V laser treatments.  They are both safe and effective.  You may need 3-5 treatments about 3-4 weeks apart.  

This redness appears to be from rosacea in your photos.  I would suggest Mirvaso as a topical treatment to reduce the appearance of the redness.  The V-Beam laser is an excellent treatment to diminish the redness from your face.  It will take a few treatments with zero down time spaced one month apart to decrease the redness.

I would first see a dermatologist to evaluate for any medical condition. If it is rosacea or telangiectasia, the Excel V laser is great to treat this. It will require 1-3 treatments about 2 weeks apart. 

Steroid creams and preps can cause teles or redness. In some cases steroid induced rosacea. Lasers can definitely help. See a laser dermatologist for assessment and advice. 
Rosacea is very complex and a tailored treatment program give the best results. This is because there are many types of rosacea (telengtctatic or capillaries, flushing and redness, acne like rosacea, ocular rosacea and even rhinophyma rosacea.)

To add to the complexity, everyone has different flare factors- Sunlight, stress, foods, chemical irritants, creams, changes in temperature, alcohol. The list goes on. 

A detailed history, together with a treatment tailored according to YOUR type of rosacea will give the best results. As a guide, I use a combination of -

1. Lasers (to treat redness, broken capillaries, rhinophyma, flushing)- best laser is the V BEAM. IPL can be used, but usually not as effective. Laser toning using the long pulse Nd Yag at 1064 can help with background redness. 

2. Creams - anti inflammatory- Rozex, Azalelic acid, Solantra. Creams are effective in 30% of cases. 

3. Tablets -anti - inflammatory and sometimes low dose Vitamin A. Vitamin A cream can be used in v low concentration and gradually titrated. See a medical dermatologist for this. 

4. For females- Mineral make up is recommend- paraben and preservative – talc free. 

For the best results, consult a dermatologist for both medical and laser treatment options.
