Is Erbium fully ablative laser resurfacing done twice within a month safe?

Hi, I have had fully ablative laser resurfacing done twice on my face for acne scars - treatments were spaced apart and done within a month of each other. I was wondering if this is safe? I was initially told this procedure was to be done once until my dermatologist called me back in and performed the procedure again

Thank you for sharing your question. If full ablative mode is used with several passes of the laser, the tissue improves over 3-4 months. I prefer waiting to see the final results before performing additional treatment. With more mild treatments, a month apart would be fine. I hope this helps.Good luck,

Thanks for your question. The period of time between laser treatments depends on what settings are used. If you are receiving very light treatments, even if full field, this may be acceptable. That said, it is unusual to do two ablative full field laser treatments within a month of one another.I would recommend discussing your concerns with your laser physician.

This depends on how aggressive the treatment is. 6-8 weeks is a safer time frame from having ablative lasers. The best thing is to follow up with your doctor to clarify the treatment plan.
