Online consultation is a quick, convenient and secure way to digitally contact your surgeon and get advice, without having to wait on the phone or take time out to come into the office. At my practice, I do online consultations with my patients prior to their surgeries especially if they are traveling from overseas. Moreover, I definitely meet with them in person either the day before or the day of their surgery to examine them in person, discuss everything about the surgery in detail and answer their questions and put their minds at ease. Good luck with your surgery.
Thanks for your question!Every surgeon has their own protocol. It should be fine, but call the office with your concern. Best wishes!
Thanks for your inquiry, in my practice we see all patients in person for their pre-operative visit, but since the start of the COVID pandemic many practices have moved to virtual options in delivering patient care. If you are unhappy with this choice, ask your surgeon's office that you prefer in an person visit and they might accommodate you, best of luck with surgery.
It will depend of your and your surgeon's comfort. You will see your surgeon on a day of surgery and have a chance to discuss any issues, as needed. It is becoming more and more frequent with patients out of town. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. Each Surgeon will have their own pre operative protocol they wish to follow. If you are uncomfortable with a video call, I would suggest calling the office to see if you could be seen in person. Best of luck to you.
For me, it depends on where the patient lives and their ability to come to the office. For patients that live out of town, I will do a virtual appointment. However, I prefer to see them in person because I think it helps me be better prepared for surgery.
Dear Lululee1,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
It truly depends on your surgeon. I personally see all my pre-op patients in-person prior to surgery. Even the patients that are traveling from out of town. However, it is just my preference. The main reason for the visit is to prevent unexpected surprises and also to ensure I can meet my patients expectations.
Many surgeons do virtual consults even for breast surgery. If you’re not confortable doing this then let the surgeons office know you prefer an in person consult
In my office, the preop appointment is done in the office to complete the physical exam, get weight and blood pressure, do the final examination and try on sizes for a final time if needed. This cannot be done virtually. However, every office may have a different protocol for a preop appointment. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
