Post breast mastopexy incision recovery best practices/timeline?

Question

Mastopexy… Anchor lift used. Implant size reduction 175cc. Incisions are slow to heal and suture spitting occurring. What causes sutures to spit and incisions to open up? Also- approximately how long do absorbable sutures normally take to absorb on the most superficial (visible) layer? At what point in the healing process (ON AVERAGE) does the redness on the incision line start to dissipate? Lastly, what are some of the best practice post op taping/incision covering techniques utilized.

You have many questions that can best be answered by your surgeon. However, the redness may last up to 6 months, depending upon your skin type. Dissolvable sutures usually spit between 6-10 weeks, but some could be longer.  Those most likely to spit sutures have had previous surgery with dissolvable sutures, or may have a low grade infection by the incisions.  Once the wounds are healed and dry, scar products or tapes can be very helpful. Your surgeon should be able to guide you in post operative care.
