Xanax is a medicine that reduces anxiety. If a patient experiences anxiety before or after surgery, I sometimes will prescribe it or something similar. It would be up to your surgeon to determine if it would be appropriate for you.
Hello and thank you for your question.I find that a muscle relaxer such as Valium (generic = Diazepam) is very effective in managing the tightness that most patients feel post breast augmentation, however, I recommend that you follow your Plastic Surgeon's post-op instructions.
Most of my patients receive a muscle relaxant to help with the tightness sensation. I have not had too many patients who needed anxiety medications. You should discuss this with your surgeon and see what his recommended post operative regimen is.

From your description it sounds as though you may have a suture abscess. They typically are well managed with minor care. Be sure to follow your surgeon's instructions and keep him/her updated on any changes that occur.
