What is the best topical to apply after micro-needling when trying to correct rolling acne scars?

I would like to know what kind of serum should be applied, in what form (serum, pure powder vitamin C, etc.), and how it should be applied. Also, is Retin-A a good product to apply after micro-needling?

Hello and thank you for your question. After Microneedling you want to use an epidermal repair cream that will aid in healing and calm the irritation. In my practice we recommend ZO Medical Revitatrol. Revitatrol delivers essential hydration and calming for post-procedure, compromised and severely dry or irritated skin. Rich hydrators replenish lipids and restore skin’s barrier while reducing the appearance of redness.
You do not want to use or continue using Retin-A, Vitamin C, Retinols, or products containing acids until your skin has calmed and the redness is gone.
I always recommend using PRP ( Platelet Rich Plasma) during your microneedling treatments. PRP will aid in quicker healing and improve your results.

Hi sd007, The day after microneedling, we recommended not applying anything on the face. In the following days, it would be fine to use non-irritating skincare like Cerave. From the 3rd-5th day, use more gentle formulations than you used before microneedling since your skin is still very sensitive. Continue using Cerave to moisturize. You can start using weaker formulations of Vit. C, retinoic acid etc. a week post -microneedling.All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
