I would have this procedure in the office of a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, and only after the doctor has evaluated you. PRP will improve your results dramatically.  Having three passes or more at up to 2.25 mm in depth will also improve your results, and if you have acne scars or are having the procedure for hair loss, you will do better with injections of the PRP directly into the problem areas as well. For deep acne scars the physician may perform some more vigorous passes or "stamp" the problem areas themselves.  Of course, you would never have microrolling, where a roller is used rather than a pen, because this can tear the skin and will not be effective.

Hello and thank you for your question. I would recommend using PRP with your microneedling treatment. PRP (Platlet Rich Plasma) will aid in quicker healing and improving your results. Your provider will adjust the depths depending on the area and concerns of the skin. Talk to your provider about their technique, all areas of the skin should be treated and the areas of your concerns should be treated more aggressively. Be prepared to have or purchase in the office a post procedure calming cream that you will use at home to help the skin heal. Stay out of the sun, and let your skin heal by taking it easy the day of your procedure. I have seen from patients that have come into our office and thought they had microneedling but they were mislead and had dermal rolling instead, so make sure they are using a medical device and not a dermal roller. You should always feel comfortable with your provider to ask as many question or concerns that you may have. Hope this helps!
