Both are usually proposed as a one time treatment rather than a series of treatments. However, depending upon the aggressiveness of the CO2 treatment, it can be repeated in several months if needed. Once the J plasma is done, I would not consider another resurfacing treatment until after a year. But with J plasma, the results are so good that I would not expect that the procedure would not require re treatment for several years.
Most people need only one CO2 or J-Plasma treatment at a time. However, if additional results are desired, more than one treatment can be done. I will do a second CO2 after about 6 months and another J-Plasma after about a year. Even with the amazing results that both procedures can achieve, the aging process continues. Some of my patients like to do a CO2 every 3-5 years in order to combat the aging. J-Plasma is so new that we don't yet know how often patients will want to repeat it.
