Is there something about RF heat specifically that helps tighten skin? Or is ultrasound heat better for skin tightening alone (without fat reduction)?
Answer: Ultherapy can be combined with Morpheus8 to help light and tighten the skin. Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Ultrasound or Radiofrequency for Skin Tightening? Thank you for your excellent question. Exilis (Radiofrequency) and Ultherapy (Ultrasound) are good non-surgical options for skin tightening on the face and body. In my clinic in Central London we offer both treatments. Generally speaking, Radiofrequency based Exilis will require a course of sessions in order to deliver the best clinical results. On the other hand Ultherapy, which uses Ultrasound can provide excellent results after a single treatment but the results are not immediate. Neither treatment will deliver fat reduction. At the end of the day it will depend on a variety of factors such as the age and skin condition of the individual patient, the results they are hoping to see and how quickly they want to complete their treatment. I would always encourage a prospective patient to do their research and visit a clinic that offers more than one treatment solution and then to ask for their advice on what is going to be the most appropriate course to follow. Sometimes combining the treatment with chemical peels or laser or IPL therapy may also help to improve the appearance of the skin's texture and colour. I hope that this has been helpful.

Answer: Ultrasound vs RF for skin tightening Both of these modalities are very good for noninvasive skin tightening. The purpose is to heat up the tissue and cause it to tighten and remodel. This can be accomplished with either procedure. The BLT exillis ultra combines both RF and ultrasound to produce a very nice result.
