I was told there is a "head" that reduces/fat and one that is just for skin tightening. Is this correct? Or does RF cause some fat loss no matter what? If it is true that it doesn't cause fat loss with proper head/settings what are this settings? And does ultrasound or repeated infrared lasers work better? Thank you.

One is used only for skin tightening, while the other can be used as a combination of skin tightening and fat melting depending on the settings. It works better than either modality alone for skin tightening. Radiofrequency alone (as in the BTL Vanquish ME machine) is enough for fat reduction alone. The best Exilis machine has two different heads. One is a smaller tip that is best for smaller areas such as the face and for skin tightening alone. The larger tip or head is for fat reduction or skin tightening on body parts other than face. The large tip can drive the radiofrequency to a deeper area than just skin level by cooling off the upper layers as it heats the lower layers. This effectively reduces fat without tightening the skin. The machine operator should adjusting the intensity and cooling factors of the machine multiple times during treatment to get the most desired effect for each particular area without causing you pain.
