What are the risks of Exilis Ultra set to skin tightening for face?

For Exilis the only bad reviews say it does nothing or made thighs bumpy (two cases and assuming they were with the fat removal hand piece). Any real concerns with this treatment?

There are risks with any medical procedure invasive or not. The key is proper training and administration by a qualified person.  THe Elite uses Radio Frequency to heat the dermis stimulation collagen production and a later decrease in fine wrinkles. Here are some of the possible problems
1. No results  this happens about 30% of the time and occurs with all the non invasive methods.
2. limited results
3 blistering and burning ( this is caused by improper use such as to high a setting or not moving the hand piece or using the proper gel to glide the head of the HP on.
4 Fat loss, again if the hand piece is constantly moving and not overheating one location this should be rare. Also use of the body HP on the face. Its imperative to follow the epidermal temp especially with the large body HP. THe small face HP is very hard to measure the temp thus the provider must observe the skin for signs of overheating.5. Very important when treating the eye area not to overheat the cheek and more importantly not to heat the eyeball itself!
the bumpy thighs were again probably overheating a localized area causing fat loss in that pocket.

The results of exilis are very dependent on the skill of the  provider.  It is important to heat the tissue to a certain degree and keep it there for a period of time.  This is important for collagen stimulation and remodeling.  Also if fat is the target the settings must be adjusted to target the fat. If the fat is heated too vigorously than it can result in uneven treatment and a "bumpy" appearance. It is important that the provider be well trained in the use of this device to get optimal results.
