How long does Xeomin really last?

Question

I had 50 units in my forehead and under eyes/crows feet 9 weeks ago and the results are wearing off. Is this normal? Also, my injector refuses to inject me for another month as he says injecting this soon will cause me to become immune to the product (will no longer work). Is this correct?

Xeomin, Botox and Dysport last 2-4 months depending on the person.   50 units to the eyes and glabella is at the lower end for active people.  You may need higher doses or to switch to dysport or botox.  A combination approach would give the most improvement. Movement lines and superficial wrinkles improve best with botox, dysport or xeomin.  Fine wrinkles need lasers like clear and brilliant, fraxel or erbium or co2; radiofrequency like venus viva or intensife microneedling RF; microneedling with PRP and stem cells; aquagold treatment; or soft fillers like belotero, restylane silk or refyne, revanesse versa, or juvederm volbella.  Deep wrinkles can be improved with a combination of Botox and/or fillers for the lines themselves and to build anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building.  Agressive deep peeling like phenol/TCA and J plasma can be used for deeper scarring or wrinkles.  Ultherapy is great for lifting of this are and thermage is great for tightening and improving overall texture.  Montly facialis like silk peel, dermalinfusion, salt facial, and microneedling with retinol masks can really help fine wrinkles and pore size. Hi and thank you for the question. Like Botox, Xeomin typically lasts 3-5 months, however the higher your metabolism, the faster you metabolize out the product. In other words, if you are active with a high metabolism, the Xeomin will not last as long. It is rare to become resistant to Xeomin. If you feel another product (Dysport or Botox) lasted longer, you should likely stick with that product. I like to inject my guests as soon as they start to have movement and before they get full movement because it will require fewer units. If you are starting to get movement back after 90 days, it is usually acceptable to get retreated.

It could be that more units were needed if the results are wearing off sooner than expected.  I have not seen anyone develop an immunity to the product so I think that would be very unlikely.  It is best to wait to inject when full movement has returned to the face.  If movement has returned than it is usually okay to retreat even if it has only been 9 weeks.

Thank you for your question. Xeomin can last up to 9 months however some patients metabolize it very rapidly and therefore lose effectivness.

Xeomin, like Botox, lasts approximately 3-4 months, in some cases up to 6 months.  I am not aware of developing immunity to Botox due to frequency of administration .

Despite early claims there is no difference in the effect of Botox and Xeomin. That was shown in several report including a very elegant study comparing the effect of both neurotoxins when injected in several subject at the same dose, same concentration and in the same area. No difference in the duration of the effect nor in the complication rate  was found after 30, 60, 90 and 120 days. Many other studies confirmed also that the diffusion (spread) of Botox and Xeomin are exactly the same if the dose and concentrations are identical. To develop resistance ( become "immune) is very rare but is more likely with Botox than with Xeomin. Good luck!
