Lightsheer duet vs. Fotona 4D vs. Lightsheer duet. Is one better than the others? (Photo)

Hello,Good question and good idea to send photo of skin/hair color.We believe that the a diode (Lightsheer) laser is the better option for hair removal based upon your skin type.  The Fontona technology uses a long-pulsed YAG laser wavelength.  The longer wavelength for your condition and skin type will not be as efficient or effective as using the shorter wavelength of the Lightsheer Duet (Diode technology.)  We  know this because we use both wavelengths in our practice.  The longer Nd YAG is reserved for darker skin types only.Please see the below link for additional information on the technology and why this matters in predicting outcomes.

This is a good question with a good photo to compare against.  The appropriate laser choice really depends on an the treating physician in all honesty. You want to make sure that the treating physician is well versed in the use of that particular laser.  The LightSheer Duet by Lumenis is a great laser, one we use quite often, but may not be the right laser for you. Fair skin and light eyed people do well with a Diode laser compared to darker skin type individuals doing better with a long pulsed ND:YAG laser.  I recommend that you see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon that has training in cosmetic laser treatments.
