Low settings on laser hair removal Light Sheer duet?

I am recieving laser hair removal on my bikini area and under arms. I am pretty light skined maybe even pale, with black hair. I have got two sessions prior to with the same machine. This time, at a new place, I felt it was not as hot and the vaccum wouldn't catch my skin. I told her but she said Ok. I looked at the settings, they all are low. Why? Should I tell them that Im not satisfied? That I dont think it was very affective? There aware I tolerate this well. I just want this to work.

You should always speak up if you are not satisfied with your treatment to your provider.  Have you noticed any reduction of hair in the area of treatment? The lightsheer is an excellent machine that works really well if you don't think it's working you should tell your doctor. Your doctor can adjust the settings so that you receive a more effective treatment especially since you are an excellent candidate for hair removal being fair with black hair. Hope this helps. Those settings of 4.7 are extremely low - I've never treated this low. If you are indeed a type 2 Fitzpatrick skin type, you should be in the 9 range. Treating at too low a setting is generally done by inexperienced providers for fear of burning the skin. Unfortunately, what happens is the energy is only enough to thin the hair and not kill it. The thin hairs become even more difficult to eradicate because they don't absorb the heat well.

Good questions, but it will be a tough one to answer without knowing you as a patient.  Here are some basics.  The settings on the vacuum don't necessarily effect the overall results.  You can see that the vacuum setting is on low with one pulse.  This might actually make it more comfortable, but these setting are very provider specific.  The fluence and pulse width are at 4.6 and 30.  The pulse width setting at 30 is a very quick pulse, meaning all of that energy is being pumped into one fast pulse.  We have to be careful how much energy we put behind it if the pulse is that fast.  The 4.6 is the fluence, the amount of energy behind that pulse.  There are many reasons we adjust this setting - skin type, hair color, hair thickness, hair density, recent sun exposure, etc.  Though 4.6 is low, there might have been a perfect good reason why the provider made that decision.  I would recommend asking why your provider is choosing those settings.  This will hopefully give you a better understanding and help you to trust him/her a little bit more.
