I am sorry for your misfortune.  Make sure you are off all blood thinning products such as aspirin and ibuprofen, as well as other herbal supplements.  I agree with the drainage that was already done.  I also agree that you should see your surgeon as soon as possible in order to drain the hematoma again, either by needle, or through a small port in the original incision site. Placing cool packs over the area for 15 minutes may help the additional swelling as well.

Your instincts are correct to attend to this as soon as possible. Your surgeon is returning Monday so I would insist on seeing him at his earliest opening that day.  Merely draining the blood in my experience can lead to fibrosis during the ensuing weeks.  My advice would be to open and wash the tissues thoroughly and place a small drain if necessary to avoid re accumulation of serum.

Thank you for your question. An undrained hematoma can become infected or decrease the skin's blood supply and make the skin start to break down. It's worth trying to get it refrained to prevent these complications. Best wishes
