I am 6 months post op arm lift. The thing I wanted taken care of the most is the skin around my elbows which is why my scar wraps around a bit. It's still there and I am very self concious. I am wondering if an arm lift revision would generally be free and what the recovery time would be. I am an xray tech and just wonder how many days off of work I would need.
Answer: Excess skin after arm lift Having excess skin close to the elbow following brachioplasty can be a common problem. It is important to differentiate whether this excess skin can be removed or whether it is in fact required so that you can bend your elbow. Sometimes, a minor revision to extend the scar can remove excess skin by the elbow. It would be best if you see your surgeon again for reevaluation to see what options might be best for you to address this area.

Answer: Revision arm lift Thank you for your question. It may be challenging to place an incision directly over the elbow, but it is possible with a very a conservative amount of skin resection. The other alternative would be some additional liposuction to reduce the bulge above the elbow and then use a skin tightening device like Ultherapy, Profound or even Sculptra at weak dilutions.

Answer: Brachioplasty It is often difficult to extend the arm lift incision into the elbow area since the elbow joint is mobile and any scar this extends into or pass the elbow can potentially limit its movement. However, if enough skin is not taken in the first place, it may be possible to revise the scar and to remove additional skin through the arm litf incision. Answer: Elbow area revision Congratulations on having an arm lift procedure. The elbow component of an arm lift is difficult to correct and due to the nature of the long scar-can certainly stick out (dog ear). Additional liposuction and possible transverse scar (across the elbow area to a small extent) may be necessary. Any revision of an arm lift is a smaller procedure with a shorter recovery time of 3-4 weeks, especially in the nature of your job. The cost of any revision would be best discussed with your Plastic Surgeon who will give you a sensible plan considering he/she has carried out your operation.Best of luck with this.
