Question

Recently my presciption was refilled with the generic form, I love geberic stuff, no label needed for this gal but it doesn't have the same tingle as Latisse and I've noticed lash breakage and the lashes appear overall thinner. In addition to that, the bottle dropper part has black stuff that I could never remove no matter how hard I scraped and appears to be a manufacturing issue and not mold or other concerns. Could the inactivite ingredients cause the breakage?

In general generics are bio-equivalent to the name brands. There can be some differences in the inactive ingredients. I have not heard these complaints about this with generic Latisse in my own practice. If you are concerned you should ask your doctor for a prescription for name brand Latisse and see if the problem resolves.

Both Alcon Bimataprost and Latisse use same active ingredient bimataprost.  If you notice black contamination in the bottle, you should discard the product. As for lash breakage it is unlikely due to the active ingredient so more likely due to other ingredients.
