I recently started using Latisse and have been having headaches and pain behind my eyes.

Question

I have never been one to get headaches so this is a bit odd. My biggest concern right now is that I have had Iritis,Uveitis and Optic Neuritis so I've been concerned I'm flaring up again. Today I started looking into Latisse and it says that anyone with any inflammatory eye conditions should not use Latisse. I am having a lot of pain behind my eyes, could Latisse bring on one of those conditions if someone has had it before?

Hello Syreena,Thank you for your question. Latisse is a prescription medication that is sold by medical professionals who should always have you sign a consent of risks as well as assess whether you a good candidate prior to allowing you to use the product.  I recommend discontinuing use and discussing the symptoms with your provider as those are most definitely inflammatory eye conditions.All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

You need to see your ophthalmologist, now. In the future, please don't use any treatments in or around your eyes without asking your ophthalmologist's permission.

Thank you for your question.I would discontinue use of the medication, until you can be evaluated by an Ophthalmologist. There is no way to know for sure if the medication is the cause of the pain you are having, but it is better to stop until you can be evaluated.

Thanks for your question. Given your history of inflammatory eye issues I recommend you seek out the care of your ophthalmologist immediately and stop Latisse. Given your history you may not be a good candidate for this medication. Wish you all the best.
