Is a dental fee for a warranty on a crown common practice?

In my office the fee for recementing a crown is around $125. This entails cleaning the crown, making sure the tooth is healthy and usually taking an x-ray. 

There are ways to bond brackets or place bands around gold crowns to proceed with braces. If your dentist is not comfortable with the gold crowns please get a second opinion for other options.
