Advice after 2nd chin implant? Scar healed horrible, double chin when I smile & can feel bumps (Photos)

Question

This is my second chin implant the first one shifted and I had a lop sided chin. This time my surgeon drilled the implant into my chin. Not my luck. My scar has healed horrible and cause separation. When I smile it looks like I hav a double chin. When I palpate the bottom on my chin I can feel bumps and ball like textures. Does not hurt but just not sure what to do. My surgeon gave me a steroid injection a few months ago but no luck.

Your scar may be hypertrophic after implant exchange. Usually, more than one corticosteroid injection is needed to improve the scar related deformity (2-3). Injection of micro fat or nano fat grafts in the scarred  area may also be considered as a part of scar revision. Good luck.

I would recommend a genioplasty. We would remove the implant and use your own bone to create the ideal chin you are looking for. Implants can have many issues (as you have experienced) and unfortunately leave a scar. A genioplasty is done entirely thorough the mouth, so no external scarring (would remove the implant through the inside as well). Implants are also limited in their movements, and tend to widen the chin. A genioplasty allows us to move and angle the chin into essentially whatever position you like. An added benefit is they elongate your jawline as well! There is also the potential for a scar revision to try and smooth out the bumps, but we may recommend microneedling or other skin treatments. To make an assessment of a plastic surgery procedure and we generally need to see proper before and after pictures. We usually don’t make assessments with facial expressions. Having had to previous procedures things are now fairly complex, and I think you need to either except the results of the way they are or consider removing the implant if your overall dissatisfied with the outcome.
