Allergan 410MM textured implants, 280g teardrop shape under muscle implanted in 2012. 5'4 138lbs.Having symptoms that my regular doctors cannot diagnose, all labs are clear. What lab work can be done to test for BIA-ACLprior to explant, does the surgeon refer to get these done? My physician and obgyn knows nothing about this rare cancer. Also my insurance covers Elective removal of allergan recalled implants but no surgeon's office accepts insurance or wont help facilitating papers

Unfortunately BIA-ACL diagnosis is typically made based on the results of a combination of tests, including a physical exam, imaging studies, and pathology evaluation of any fluid or tissue samples obtained during an explant surgery. I suggest you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon who is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of this condition. Regarding insurance coverage I suggest joining breast implant removal groups from your country that can guide you better in finding a surgeon who can perform the explant surgery and facilitate the necessary paperwork for insurance coverage. Answer: Lab work There is yet no blood work specific to BIA-ACL prior to surgery, but tests are run on any fluid present around the implant and on the capsule itself. You did not ask a question about the insurance from Allergan, but you could speak with someone from the company for assistance.
