How long will fluid last in my breast (no drains)?

Developing a fluid collection in the breast after reduction surgery is not uncommon, and is referred to as a seroma.  Your surgeon may be able to diagnose the seroma by physical exam alone or may need an ultrasound to do so.  Either way, the treatment is usually to aspirate the seroma which is done by inserting a needle through the skin and into the fluid collection to drain it.  This does not require anesthesia and can typically be done in the doctors office.  Occasionally, seromas recur and need to be aspirated more than once.  Let your surgeon know the symptoms you're experiencing so that you can be treated appropriately.Best of luckKeith Blechman, MDNew York, NY

you should ask your surgeon for management.  Most can be easily aspirated in the office.  If this is creating a breast much larger than the other, it should be aspirated.
