11 days after liposuction and I’m bigger than before I went in. Is this normal?

Yes, this can be typical. You will have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Dear eholbrook86,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a liposuction. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. I can understand your frustration with the swelling and still looking bigger.  You are still early in your post-op period and swelling is normal.  Tumescent technique is the standard for liposuction, so that's not an issue.  As for the amount that was removed, 1700cc's, don't get caught up in that number.  Everyone is different and technique can vary in terms of the amount of tumescent that is used, so the amount taken can vary as well.  The key thing is that enough fat was safely removed from the problem areas.  Continue with your compression garment and follow the instructions your surgeon gave you for post-op care.  Make sure you continue with your follow up.  If you still feel, something is not right, tell your surgeon.  I always see my patients if they are concerned about a potential problem.  I hope this helps.  Dr. Bastidas
