I am probably a Norwood 2.5 and I do not want to lose what hair I do have. I have read some horror stories and I am reconsidering my decission. I have a good donor area and have hair on my crown, my sides have receded quite a bit. I have posted a picture with lots of coconut oil in my hair and one without. Thanks in advance for responses.
Answer: FUE Hair Transplant Thanks for the question. Based on your photos, the 2000-3000 grafts might be good option for you, but it would be wrong to say something for sure. You should see a board certified surgeon. You can then plan the process together and discuss the results. I wish you all the best.

Answer: You need to have good communication with your doctor to understand what your end result will look like. Photos cannot determine if you would be a good candidate for surgery. You need an examination and the doctor needs to understand your goals and expectations. You need to have good communication with your doctor to understand what your end result will look like. Someone with your hair loss pattern may be perfectly happy with 1000 grafts, while others may not be happy even with over 3000 grafts. You also have to realize one surgery may not be enough. To add to the confusion, straight black hair on fair skin results in a thinner appearing outcome then someone with curly blond hair on fair skin. I hope you can appreciate there are many factors to your end result than just a "number" of grafts.

Answer: FUE Hair Transplant There are several issues with this question. In considering a hair transplant, planning for future hair loss must be discussed. Most of our patients with your hair loss pattern begin taking finasteride to help slow down further hair loss. Your age and family history of hair loss must also be considered. In designing a transplant pattern, it is best to stay with a conservative hairline to help manage the finite amount of donor hair. We have not seen much benefit in using PRP or Acell with our FUE procedures, and they simply just add to the expense of the procedure.

Answer: Candidate for FUE hair transplant with PRP It will best for you to consult a hair physician in person as neither the history nor the pictures are giving any clear idea. But as per the information provided, you do not seem to fit into any classical pattern of Norwood classification of hair loss as you have a diffuse hair fall. So, it will be better for you to continue with medical management and let the badness pattern develop more clearly. Once, it develops, then you can definitely go ahead with the hair transplant.

Answer: Candidate for FUE and PRP/ACell The photos you sent show an intermediate phase miniaturization in the frontotemporal recessions and midscalp. You appear to be a good candidate based on the nature of your hair loss pattern although I cannot fully see your donor area in this photo. The exact number of grafts needed will depend on the precise size of the zone you want filled and on your overall density expectations. High density grafting requires a "dense-pack" approach in which approximately 40-50 follicular units per square centimeter are placed to achieve maximum filling of the zone. The great majority of patients are very satisfied with this density. 1500-2000 grafts looks like a nice number for you, but again, it depends on your density expectations. PRP/ACell injections are a nice adjunct procedure for the donor and recipient areas during surgery. Although it is possible to begin surgical restoration if you have conservative goals, a hair transplant will provide only a short term density boost since the preexisting hair will continue to thin over time. For this reason, it is important to also consider finasteride and minoxidil to help stabilize the hair loss process. I recommend an in-person consultation with a hair transplant specialist if you have further questions. Good luck!
