Thank you for your questions regarding the types of vertical thigh lifts. I have been performing plastic surgery procedures for over 30 years. Most of my thigh lifts now involve just the vertical incisions. They rarely involve the T-incision. The dog ears are eliminated with a single vertical incision. In the end, it really boils down to your anatomy and where the excess skin and fat is on your thighs. If you have excess skin and fat in the upper inner thighs, I would suggest a crescent incision. If you do not want a crescent or groin incision, then I would suggest a vertical incision. Depending on how much excess skin and fat you have on your inner thigh will determine how long the scar would be. If you only have a mild to moderate amount of excess skin and fat, the incision is carried 4 to 5 inches down the medial thigh. If you have excess skin and fat down to your knee, the incision is carried from the groin to the knee. It also depends on the comfort level of your plastic surgeon. In my experience, I think you will have an excellent result with a modified incision extending from the groin partially down the inner thigh. If your skin excess is around the knee, the incision would have to go from the groin to the knee. However, in general, the incision does not into the groin in a T or J fashion. I hope this answers your questions regarding a vertical thigh lift. If you have any more questions regarding the vertical thigh lift, crescent thigh lift, J-thigh lift, modified T-thigh lift or spiral thigh lift, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
