Is extreme and prolonged swelling of the labia after a median thigh lift normal? Will anything reduce the swelling?

Ihad a medial thigh lift 15 days ago, and experienced extreme swelling of the labia, which my surgeon said would reduce to normal in a week or so. However, I'm still unable to walk, sit, or even stand for long because the swelling makes these activities very painful. I haven't read of anyone else complaining of this; is this usual? If so, how long is it likely to last? And most importantly - what can I do for some relief?

This is fairly common after a medial thigh lift. It is because the vascular drainage is altered for the surgery. It will eventually improve, but likely within a month. Complete resolution could take considerably longer. For some temporary relief, try to spend some time with your legs elevated above your heart for at least a half an hour several times per day. In addition, warm compresses may provide some comfort as well.
