Can't stand up straight after Tummy Tuck?

Thank you for sharing your question.  Believe it or not you appear to be on track with most patients able to fully stand up at 14 days after a tummy tuck that had a muscle repair performed.  Keep up the good work and you will see that with additional time your skin will stretch sufficiently to keep you upright.  Best wishes. 

Congratulations on having undergone the tummy tuck procedure; best to run this question by your plastic surgeon as you will find that different surgeons will have different feelings about positioning/timing…  For example, in my practice, I tend to ask patients to stay flexed at the waist for about weeks (longer than some other plastic surgeons do). Hi, Beyoutiful.  Congratulations on your TT!  Every patient is very different, and the quality of the tissues before the procedure, as well as the amount of skin removed and whether the muscle was repaired or not, as well as the amount of post-operative swelling will all impact when you can stand straight.  I always tell my patients "to listen" to their bodies, and I also encourage them to gently and progressively try standing straighter.  Often times, I find the skinnier girls take a little longer.Your PS will be in the best position to determine wether your progress is on track or not, and how much he/she wants you to push the stretching.  Best of luck!
