What type of laser resurfacing would you recommend for fine lines around mouth and eyes for caucasian woman mid 30s? I have no other major concerns about my skin (no scarring, no acne). I see halo, PicoSure Focus, fraxel and many others advertised. How should I choose between them? I am fine with 3-7 day downtime and I am also open to lesser downtime and repeating more treatments. I really want the option with the best results and fewest side effects. Thank you in advance!
Answer: Laser options for fine lines Thank you for your question! It is difficult to assess which treatment will be best for you without an in-person consultation. For fine lines I recommend either halo resurfacing or microneedling with radiofrequency (Morpheus8). Depending on the settings of the Halo laser, there is usually 5-7 days of downtime. Downtime for the Morpheus8 is usually around 3 days. One Halo treatment will give a more significant result than one Morpheus8 treatment. I usually recommend a series of 3 morpheus8 treatments 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. You can also add platelet rich fibrin (PRF) to your treatments to enhance results and speed up the healing process. The Alastin skincare line is also great for pre and post procedure, and have formulated a regimen specifically for procedures like the Halo. I suggest scheduling a consultation with an experienced provider to determine the best plan for your desired aesthetic outcome. Best of Luck, Dr. Kian

Answer: Choosing a laser The best advice is to choose your provider, not your laser. Choose someone with multiple options they can pick from to decide what is best for you. If you ask someone who only has a halo what is going to be your best option... guess what your answer will be. To ensure you are receiving the highest level of care, seek out a modernly trained, new-school dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these “core four” cosmetic specialties. Membership in organizations like the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery help to identify a highly trained surgeon.Cameron Chesnut #realself100 Physician

Answer: Laser Resurfacing with--Fraxel, Co2, lasers, microneedling/prp, Sculptra, Botox, peels, rf treatments Fraxel and/or Co2 are best for resurfacing, but erbium is a good alternative. I always combine lasers with microneedling/prp for more robust outcomes. For skin tightening, I recommend a combination of ultherapy with RF treatments and sculptra for skin tightening. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: The BEST Laser Is.... Thanks for your question. We see it all of the time on this site: "What's the BEST"??? There is no answer. While each device should leave the factory the same, each one will act differently. Much of your treatment will depend on the overall power of the device, how well it has been cared for, the settings used and the technique of the provider. If the device isn't regularly serviced and calibrated or they fail to clean the lenses properly (it happens!), you won't get an effective treatment.Look for an office with a physician present, lots of treatment options and excellent reviews. If other people had results good enough to write a glowing review, you will probably get one too. Find the office where you will have the best experience. I hope this helps.

Answer: Laser Options for Fine Lines and Early Skin Aging First off, thanks for starting caring for your skin so young - it gives you lots more options and will serve you well. Your best options are those personalized to you. This is best planned through an in-person consultation, but like many offices, initial Facetime consults with pictures can be a start. Your baseline skin type and examinations help guide choices, particularly in lasers which are safe and effective. For younger patients (like you!) a combination of medium downtime treatments to get your skin where you want it, and then low-no downtime treatments for maintenance yield great results. Jump on fine lines around the mouth early, as they can require significant downtime to treat once they're bad. Anyone treating fine lines close to the eyes should be very experienced and comfortable using laser eye shields.BBL is best in class for color & antiaging, and helps, but is not best for texture and fine lines in the short term. Deep laser resurfacing is absolute best for lines and wrinkles, but not usually needed for younger women. Halo is an amazing tool for people in-between. Our best results for people with your kind of downtime come from combining BBL + Halo, usually with a free Skintyte included for even more collagen and sometimes also PDO threads +/or PRP for even more smoothing without bulk or additional downtime. Speak with an experienced cosmetic laser specialist!
