Halo resurfacing vs Sciton nanopeel? Which is more intensive?

Fraxel or Co2 are best for resurfacing and can be used at any age. I always combine lasers with microneedling/prp, Sculptra, peels, fillers and rf treatments for more robust outcomes for facial rejuvenation. We do both procedures so I think I can give you an unbiased answer...do HALO.  HALO will give you the benefits of a NanoPeel (superficial skin resurfacing) as well as the benefit of deeper collagen stimulation with as little downtime. 

These are both great treatments but it all depends on what type of results you are trying to achieve. The laser provider needs to also evaluate if your skin can tolerate the treatment. It is best to discuss your treatment plan of how intense the treatment will be and what downtime to expect. 

Great question! So much depends on your skin type, goals and tolerance for downtime. It might help to repost with pictures and what you are attempting to address. We even often do both treatments in one session.The Nanopeel is very light - about as deep as 3 microderms in one session. It is good for brightening. If you go deeper it is called a Microlaserpeel and that can do a lot for surface texture and if done really deep, it is TRL or deep resurfacing with about 2 weeks downtime at which point you can get very dramatic changes in pigment (mostly gone) fine lines (mostly gone) tightening and even some of the deep lines like around the mouth.Similarly, Halo is a huge spectrum of intensities from quite light to fairly aggressive. It is always bigger than a Nanolaserpeel, and less than a full TRL deep resurfacing. It is great for moderate downtime (4-7) improvement in pigment, fine lines, crepey texture and pores. With both treatments, we like to do them over top of a BBL for even more improvement in pigment and antiaging.

Sciton is the manufacturer of both the Halo laser and the Erbium laser used in the nanopeel. The Halo is more aggressive then the nanopeel. Both lasers can be adjusted for different skin types and problems

Halo and nanopeel are two entirely different treatments. While halo is fractionated, meaning it makes tiny, deeper, holes in the skin and spares normal skin in between, nanopeel takes the entire surface of the skin in a very superficial manner. Halo is really cool because it can be adjusted to be very aggressive (a lot of holes per unit area), or not very aggressive. In my mind, halo is really good for fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation and nano peel is better for more shallow fine lines and superficial pigmentation. While the recovery time is fairly similar, the nano peel is more open and raw than is halo so it can be more difficult. Honestly, I often combine these treatments in the same session. Halo can penetrate deeper for more collagen remodeling and nano peel to remove more of the pigment superficially. The combination doesnt really change total downtime and can really enhance the results. 

Its all in the settings- its NOT about the one vs the other as both are using the same wavelengths, however the HALO is fractional using an additional deeper NON ablative wavelength. Now, if you surgeon does several passes of the laser (in which ever mode), the results will be different, as will the healing time. Intensity is due to the PASSES, energy and density. These are all variable that can be controlled. Convey what YOU would like to achieve to your specialist, and he or she will come up with a bespoke parameter for you.The other option is to swap the laser mode to fully ablative erbium laser and treat everything in one go. This depends on your end goals and your diagnosis. HALO is designed a low downtime, multiple treatment non aggressive laser, very different to other setting on the Scition unit. Dr Davin Lim.
