Typically for my patients, I don’t have them sit for two weeks. I then have them sit on a “donut” (soft roundpillow) for another month or so. It is best to try not to place pressure on therecipient area to try to get as much fat to survive as possible. For bruising,it usually subsides after about two weeks, but the swelling lasts longer. Thisshould be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation with a PlasticSurgeon.
I ask my patients to wear compression garments to help obliterate dead space and reduce the incidence of fluid collections. Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of BBLs each year and has great reviews and great before and after pictures. The schedule an in-office or virtual consultation to discuss your concerns.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Thank you for your question. There is no specified protocol for garments after surgery. Every surgeon has his or her own opinions on what works best and often what is best is what works for them to produce the results they feel are best. More important than the post-op garment is making sure you are seeing a surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. If not, then I suggest you seek another surgeon.Best of luck!
I recommend my patients to wear binders for the first two weeks after surgery (binders can be worn over the garment), and compression garment for 6 weeks. Consult your surgeon regarding post op care since each surgeon has a slightly different protocol.
There are a number of different ways to recover after BBL. A compression garment is needed where any liposuction was done, and I also have my patients limit their sitting for the first 2 weeks. There is not an accepted answer as to what type of compression is better. Foam, which can be cut to size and worn under a binder or garment to provide compression on certain areas, is often useful. Some surgeons will use a body suit type garment that does not place compression on the buttocks, with the thought fat survival may be improved. Best to listen to the specific recommendations of your doctor. When choosing a doctor, look for American Board of Plastic Surgery certification.
In my personal opinion it makes no difference.Once the fat has been removed from liposuction the results have been determined.I don't believe after care in regards to compression garments have any impact on final results. In regards to the fat grafting immobilization is more important than anything else especially during the first few weeks.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
That may be related to swelling and the garment. Best to review with your surgeon. Good luck.........

It sounds like you have formed a seroma. If that's the case in needs to be drained. Seromas that are not drained can become chronic in which case they will not respond to drainage in the future. You should go back to your plastic surgeon sooner rather than later and have him or her evaluate you...
