Can I take my surgical bra off for an evening? I'm 5 days post op.

I am currently 5 days after breast augmentation (245cc under the muscle) and I have an even when I'll be two weeks post op and wondering if I could go braless in a dress for a couple of hours? Thank you in advance!

Hi! Please check with your doctor before removing the bra. I have my patients wear their surgical bra for 3 weeks only removing to shower and wash the bra. If you will only be braless for a few hours you may be okay but please check with your doctor first. Good luck!

Thank you for your question. It is best to ask your Board Certified Surgeon, however I typically have my patients wear a supportive sports bra as much as possible for 6 weeks. If you need to take the bra off for a couple hours that should not be a problem.

Thank you for your question.  My strong advice is to follow the instructions given by your plastic surgeon.  That being said, removing your surgical bra for a few hours is unlikely to cause a complication.  Best of luck.

Some surgeons require the use of a surgical bra after surgery and other do not use one.  I would say you can take a small break and not wear the surgical bra for several hours.  Of course, keep your regularly scheduled follow up appointments with your Plastic Surgeon.  Good luck.

Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures.  I have patients wear a soft bra after breast augmentation for a few weeks to splint everything, and at that point the scars are generally very stable and we move to normal bras (or none) and long term scar management. After two weeks of surgery going braless for a couple of hours should be ok, although the best person to advise you on this is your specific surgeon as he/she will have a better knowledge of your healing process.
