I got a breast augmentation 5 days ago. My doctor didn't use surgical tape, I just went home with a sports bra. And I feel my scars actually looked better day 1. They turned more pink and i'm wondering if not using tape is making my incision red?? Does it look ok for being 5 days post op. Will my scar eventually flatten out? Thank you!
Answer: Five days post op Your scar looks the way one would expect at 5 days. You will likely see your surgeon soon for suture removal. Discuss with them their post op routine in terms of scar management to optimize the way the scar heals.

Answer: “Normal” Scar at 5 Days Post-Op Thank you very much for your question and photographs. At five days post-op, you are still in the early stages of healing. From your pictures, your incision does seem to be healing well. Keep all of your scheduled follow-up appointments with your operating surgeon and carefully stay on track with all of his/her recovery instructions. Contact your surgeon’s office if you have further questions or experience anything sudden or unusual.

Answer: Incisions at 5 Days Hello,Thank you for your question. You still have an incision, not a scar yet. We expect a little redness and it is normal that the incision would become a bit raised over the first week or two due to inflammation. This can be expected to calm down over the months ahead and contour irregularities as well should smooth out. When your incision is completely closed, in a couple of weeks, you could talk with your Plastic Surgeon about some scar care options like silicone gel. All the best

Answer: Incision at 5 days Thank you for your question and photograph. It is quite normal for an incision to appear red and raised for several months following breast augmentation. Best to follow the specific advice given by your plastic surgeon regarding surgical or sports bra. Best of luck.

Answer: Early scar It is not uncommon for early scars to be red in the early phases of healing. Your body makes blood vessels in healing wounds to bring in the growth factors and cells that "knit wounds back together". Once the wound has healed and the scar enters it's "maintenance phase", the blood vessels that were created during the healing phase of the wound will slowly dissipate and as they do, the red in the scar will slowly fade.Be sure to get those stitches on the outside of your skin out early. If they are left in too long, you will be at risk of getting "train track" like dots in the skin where the suture enters.
