Will wearing an N95 mask 2 weeks after a rhinoplasty cause problems or alter results?

Question

I am planning to have a rhinoplasty in the future. I have a problem, though: my company requires employees to wear an N95 mask. I wonder if this could cause problems during healing (I would try to shape the metal part so that it does not press on the nasal septum). I plan to take two weeks off work after the operation, so at least I wouldn't be wearing one until then. Could be this a problem?

Hello,
Wearing a mask after rhinoplasty would not affect your surgery results. However, it is better to ask your surgeon before wearing the mask, especially for the N95 masks.

Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can understand from your question, your nose should not be under too much pressure maybe you can release some of the rope of the maske and you can wore it. Anyway, you need to be careful about it or it might affect the result in long term.Best Regards!

Hi and welcome to our forum!
It usually takes 6 weeks or so to achieve union of a rhinoplasty fracture after the procedure. It's not an all or none phenomenon...The strength of the union increases over time. In our practice we recommend nasal bone protection for a span of at least 4 weeks to prevent malalignment.  
Discuss this issue with your surgeon. There are available modalities, including special eyeglasses with nasal side panels, which can be worn to maintain nasal bone alignment even with application of a moderate degree of external pressure (like an N95 mask).
