I am planning to have a rhinoplasty in the future. I have a problem, though: my company requires employees to wear an N95 mask. I wonder if this could cause problems during healing (I would try to shape the metal part so that it does not press on the nasal septum). I plan to take two weeks off work after the operation, so at least I wouldn't be wearing one until then. Could be this a problem?

Answer: Rhinoplasty Many surgeons tape their noses after rhinoplasty to keep swelling down. Taping would also protect the nose from a face mask

Answer: Wearing an N95 mask 2 weeks after rhinoplasty? Hi and welcome to our forum! It usually takes 6 weeks or so to achieve union of a rhinoplasty fracture after the procedure. It's not an all or none phenomenon...The strength of the union increases over time. In our practice we recommend nasal bone protection for a span of at least 4 weeks to prevent malalignment. Discuss this issue with your surgeon. There are available modalities, including special eyeglasses with nasal side panels, which can be worn to maintain nasal bone alignment even with application of a moderate degree of external pressure (like an N95 mask). Best wishes..
