About two weeks post breast reduction I started feeling very ill and was having dizzy spells. When I called my surgeons office and spoke to the nurse they told me it was from going under and it would work it's way out of my system. The day of my surgery I had a blood pregnancy test and was told I was not pregnant. An ultra sound confirmed I was about five weeks at the time of sugery. Now I'm concerned with how will this change the results of my operation. And how will this affect my fetus?

Answer: Just found out I was pregnant at the time of breast reduction, what affects can this have? Thank you for your question and congratulations on your pregnancy! Your pregnancy should not materially affect your breast reduction results, but best to maintain close follow up with your plastic surgeon. Depending on other risk factors that you may have, I would talk to your ob/gyn about the anesthesia event for your fetus so that they can appropriately monitor you during this important time of development.

Answer: Breast feeding & size may be affected Congratulations on your pregnancy! Of course, you should make your OBGYN aware of the surgery you had. This should not affect the health of your fetus, but an awareness will allow him or her to monitor for irregularities. The only thing your breast reduction surgery will affect is your ability to breastfeed and the size of your breasts. Unfortunately, your breast may grow during pregnancy due to your new hormonal changes. A breast reduction surgery will also affect your ability to produce milk, and often times eliminates the ability to produce any at all. I would consult your plastic surgeon after your pregnancy to evaluate your new breast size and any changes it caused in your healing.
