Question

I am 5 weeks post-op and have noticed that there is a gap or separation where the no pole and skin meet. Should I be worried? There is no drainage or redness or signs of infection .

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photograph. It appears that you have a small opening where your paler breast skin meets the darker skin of your areola.  This appears to be a clean wound, without signs of infection, and should heal with conservative wound care.  Talk to your surgeon for some recommendations on the best treatment plan.

Follow the instructions of your plastic surgeon for postoperative wound care. This small defects should heal up uneventfully and probably will have no effect on the resulting scar.
