Elasticity cannot be improved prior to liposuction. Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA...............
Elasticity of the skin is genetically determined and unaffected by any topical treatment. There's no way to change this before or after liposuction.
There are no creams or lotions that can help with improving skin elasticity, unfortunately. Some of the RF technologies - like ThermiSmooth - are promising, but still in the early phases of assessment.
I have all my patients who are candidates do venus legacy or velashape treatments before liposuction if they are worried about skin elasticity... however, the best results are to start these treatments after surgery as they help decrease swelling and improve skin tightening. Best, Dr. Emer.
We have found Thermi-RF to shrink and tighten skin better than Ulthera or Vela-Shape or Skin-Tite (Sciton) or Coolsculpt, although this may be operator dependent as much or more than technology dependent. Other skin tightening and skin shrinking modalities are Smart Lipo and VASER. Of the two, I only have VASER experience and it is not as dramatic as one might expect from the marketing. Thermi-RF at time of liposuction cranked up to higher ranges (60 degrees) accomplishes mechanical and thermal fat dissolution and reversible controlled dermal injury from which the skin heals by contraction and tightening. Level of energy carefully controlled by internal thermistor with auto-shut off and by FLIR infra-red heat sensing camera that monitors temperature of treated skin. Results emerge 6-9 months after treatment, and I believe continue to improve for 12-18 months as dermal collagen continues to re-model and contract.
Increase skin's elasticity is almost impossible, otherwise we wouldn't be performing tummy tucks, breast, thigh and face liftings. Some protocols include weekly sessions of LPG or Vela shape along with topical creams, mesotherapy cocktails and oral supplements 2 months prior to the procedure for increasing the skin"s quality and texture securing a better and safer outcome even though this fact it is extremely difficult to be proven clinically.
Thank you for your question. The answer is YES. We recommend that all our liposuction patients receive a pre treatment of Vellashape III ( not Vellashape II). Then patients receive several post liposuction Vellashape III treatments.Vellashape III shrinks the loose skin.In our experience we are getting superior results combining both liposuction and Vellashape III together then liposuction alone.I suggest you seek out a Bd. Cert. Plastic Surgeon in your area who has Vellashape III and has experience with liposculpture. My best wishes,
What kind of liposuction technique was used? Anyhow is quite likely that the identations dissapear, give them 6 months, and in contrary case a revisional procedure of conventional liposuction my reduce them or get rid of them.
Swelling is significant throughout any body area after liposuction. Your swelling may be more on one side or it may resolve more quickly on one side and cause it to look asymmetric as you heal. It is definitely too early to worry.
Because the effects of gravity on the movement of fluid within the tissues liposuction of the legs can be much more problematic is most patients spent time standing during the day. Compressive garments help but elevation of the limb is the best way to address the swelling.
