I am considering getting Infini by Lutronic to help with pitting (indentations into skin as a result from co2 laser) and mildly lined and loose skin around my mouth. I am 59 years old. I used to have evenly pigmented skin but now suffer from hypopigmentation and mild hyperpigmentation. This is a result of co2 ablative laser resurfacing I had 4 years ago. My new doctor is suggesting is the infini to help tighten some areas as well as help with collagen building. I'm concerned of further pitting.

Answer: Infini is a safe procedure with little side effects I've done about a thousand treatments and am the largest user of this device in the US. It is a very safe procedure. The fact that the needles are insulated protects the surface from pitting. The energy in concentrated in the deep dermis to stimulate collagen and tissue contraction. It won't affect the pigmentation issues you have unfortunately. Stay with needle depths which are 1mm or deeper and the surface of your skin remains protected. The exposed tip is 0.3mm, so the energy can't travel to the epidermis at 1mm. Also, since it is bipolar, with the adjacent needle tips being opposite polarity, the energy just travels between the needle tips, not up to the skin surface as does the Fractora.

Answer: Safe device As you know Infini is a RF device that is unique. The insulated needles and delivery system makes this a well tolerate, safe, yet effective procedure. Side effects are rare, redness subsides within 1-3 days depending on your skin type and setting. Like any other stamping device, Infini is a form or fractional delivery- namely it stamps 49 needles with each pass. In theory you do have a chance of pitting- grids- lines- squares. Have I seen it before with Infini? Yes, however this usually resolves within a few weeks. Due to the small footprint of the needle (200 microns), the chances of stamping is slim. All the best, Dr Davin Lim Laser DermatologistBrisbane, Australia.
