How long does it take to increase your hemoglobin or iron level?

Oral Iron tablets take on average 4 weeks at least to start to elevate blood Hb Hct in normal patients but if you have this condition related to weight loss procedures it might take longer. I have my extreme iron deficient anemia patients who want large procedures to have IV iron injections starting 6 weeks prior to having the procedure and recommend 2 treatments as local clinics who perform these injections will also concur. Its slightly expensive but worth it for your safe procedure and increased wound healing capacity.

Hi and thank you for your question. It sounds like your surgeon is being cautious and safe and ensuring that your healing goes as well as possible after surgery. Particularly because a tummy tuck is an elective surgery, I recommend ensuring that you are as healthy as possible for your procedure. It is possible that your hemoglobin could increase to your surgeon's required level in that short amount of time, however, you should be getting your level checked again closer to your surgery time. I would be prepared for the possibility of having to reschedule your surgery, however, hopefully it will increase. I would continue to take iron and vitamin b and ensuring a healthy, balanced diet. It can typically take between 4-6 weeks to raise your hemoglobin levels, once you start taking the supplements. You can also supplement your diet with foods that are rich in iron such as spinach, lentils, broccoli, dark chocolate and protein. You can track your progress with periodic blood tests, but most importantly, share your concerns with the board certified plastic surgeon that will be performing your tummy tuck.

cucumber, spinach, liver and proteins. If you have any question contact
