Can I color my hair 3 days before a facelift?

I would recommend hair colour a week prior to facelift.  Typically a 3 to 4 weeks  is required post surgery before hair colour can be safely done.

Thank you for your question. Yes, you can color your hair before having your facelift.  As a matter of fact, we recommend you have this done close to but before your surgery date as you cannot color your hair for 4 weeks after your surgery. Be sure to ask your surgeon, as well, for his/her specific recommendations on this.I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin

Thank you for your question.  I advise my patients to colour their hair before a facelift, as you need to wait about 1 month after surgery until you can colour it again. Please follow your surgeons protocol.  All The Best 

  I personally recommend to to colar the hair at least one week before the surgery.  Sometimes the color comes out during the cleaning  and preparation of you face lift.

Thank you for the great question. This comes up a lot in consultations. In my practice, I recommend that patients who routinely color their hair do so about a week before surgery. After surgery, it is necessary to wait about 4 weeks to avoid any of the chemicals used in the coloring process from irritating the incisions or seeping into them. Best of luck moving forward!

I tell my patient to color their hair few days prior to their facelift or 4 weeks after surgery.  I recommend to apply Vaseline to the incision lines prior to coloring your hair.

Although it’s best to check with your surgeon, I allow my patients to color 7-10 days prior and 4-6 weeks after.

As part of our pre-operative instructions package for a face lift, I generally advise my patients to dye their hair 7 to 10 days prior to surgery. This minimizes the inconvenience of having to wait the 4 to 6 weeks prior to  applying color. Any closer to surgery risks an irritated scalp at the time of the procedure.  I generally advise my patients to wait 4 to 6 weeks to color their hair after a face lift. As the chemicals used for coloring are very irritating, I want to ensure  that the incisions are well healed. If there is a delay in healing, I recommend waiting longer. Most hair dressers in my area are well familiar with the incisions of a face lift and can apply the dye limiting exposure to these areas for the first application. 
I would recommend discussing this, and any other question regarding your recovery, with your Plastic Surgeon.
