What’s this weird dent that has appeared above my belly button? (Photo)

My belly button feels a bit different. Not sure if I’m paranoid and there’s all of a sudden a dent. It wasn’t there a few days ago. I woke up and suddenly noticed it. The area above it seems to be protruding more than usual and the belly button area is slightly tender.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos, it looks like you have a small hernia. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

This is a hard question to answer. I didn’t see in your question that you had had any recent surgery. Sometimes surgery can cause deformities to arise. It’s probably best to meet with your family physician or a surgeon to determine whether or not this is something to be concerned about or not. Sometimes bulges like this are due to spread of the abdominal muscles or a hernia. It’s difficult to fully assess based on the individual photograph. We are happy to help in any way we can.
