Fillers with history of severe asthma and allergies? (Photo)

34, female. History: status asthma,laryngeal spasms (Intubations required in the past) IgA immune deficiency. Severe allergies to some foods and medicine, almost everything environmental. (Some anaphylaxis) I had Botox for the first time 9 days ago. we discussed fillers, my doctor said that with my history it might be best to stay away from fillers. I have heard if Botox is used around the lip area it can make lips appear plump bc it lifts the lip? Suggestions? Shud I stay away from fillers?

I would advise you NOT to get treated with fillers as that is a contraindication for having the treatment done. Botox along the vermillion border can rotate the lip very slighly where there is more show of the upper lip. Make sure you go to a board certified plastic surgeon or a registered nurse working for one to get safe results.

Botox can help improve lip lines, but won't improve lip volume. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to go over your desired results and treatment options. PDO nova threads can be used to improve lip shape. Fat or implants are alternatives. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi there. As your doctor said, fillers aren’t going to be an option for you given your medical history. Unfortunately, BOTOX® won’t add volume to your lips, although if placed precisely and carefully, it could help to reshape the lip line. I would suggest discussing this with an experienced cosmetic surgeon, though, to see if BOTOX® may be able to help you achieve your goals. Wishing you the best of luck!

Thanks for the question. With your history, it is best to stay away from fillers. If you read the product monograph for juvederm, it is a contraindication unfortunately. Botox will help with some fine lines but doesn't create volume. Here is a link to the juvederm information about allergies. See point 3. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question. With your history of severe allergic reactions, it would probably be best to avoid fillers. Since you have had Botox injected previously without a reaction, you could discuss the possibility of this treatment around your lips with your doctor to see if it will help.

Most likely there would be no problem with fillers but it is always best to remain on the safe side and stay away. Botox will not make your lips plump up to the point that you would like it

Given  all your problems with allergies ,  you might have a problem with fillers . In fact if you read the package insert it may be one of the contraindications . Botox around your  mouth may make your lips appear slightly bigger  but I don't know if it would do enough . I have to say you are beautiful  the Way You Are

Hello,
Given you're history, I'd recommend a small test dose of whatever filler you are interested in, prior to proceeding with a full treatment. Allergic reactions to fillers are rare in the majority of patients. Although you would most likely be fine, I'd take some precautions before proceeding.
