What can I do to get rid of dark spots on the corners of my mouth? (Photo)

Over 6 months ago I took a antibiotic that caused my mouth to tingle and swell, the corners of my mouth became inflamed and cracked.... It healed and went away but left behind two dark spots on the sides of my mouth... (I'm Latin I have tanned skin) I tried hydrq. 4% it didn't help.... Now I'm trying Ammonium lactate and I still see zero improvement. I don't want a cream that will work in a year, I want the spots gone now... What peels or lasers would be effective ?

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

Thank you so much for your questions. The pigmentation area is difficult to treat since is it so close to the mouth, I would recommend using patience while treating this, to aggressive of a treatment can leave you with white spots (hypo-pigmentation) which is much harder to correct than the dark areas you have now. Speak to your provider about other options that they recommend, it is hard to give an appropriate treatment evaluation without seeing you in person. Make sure you are avoiding sun exposure and keeping the area very well protected with an spf. Best Wishes,Pablo Prichard MD
