Hi dolphin,I am not aware of a "lip incision" approach to rhinoplasty. You should contact your son's rhinoplasty surgeon to get the answer to your question. If you are referring to the columella of the nose (the center divider under the nose between the nostrils), during an external or open approach rhinoplasty an incision is made there. That area is normally sutured and then the stitches are removed between 5 to 7 days after surgery.I personally don't usually "take any lip" from my patients, although I do encourage open communication.I hope that both your son and you are very pleased with his new nose. Good luck and be well.Dr. P
You should call the doctor who did the surgery to answer the question. He knows what type of "glue" he used and when it should fall off.
Hi @DolPhin - Skin Glue typically takes 2 weeks to dissolve or flake off. Sometimes it can take a little while longer but that's nothing to worry about! It might actually be better. Sometimes, applying a little vaseline if it has been 2 weeks can help dissolve the glue. I would recommend following up with the plastic surgeon that did your surgery and just let them know if they want you to do anything or not. Best of luck!Dr. Chopra
The tissue glue that was used on the alarplasty should fall off in about five to seven days. This is a normal phenomenon just as if it were superglue. As long as the incisions have not pulled apart or opened up there is no need to be concerned.
Hi Red, Nostril narrowing alone should not involve much swelling of your nose at all. It involves excision of skin and soft tissue. Once the sutures are removed in 5-7 days, the small amount of swelling should have resolved. Good luck and be well. Dr. P
You don't say how long ago your surgery took place. The tip of the nose always stays wide and hard for 6-12 months. If after that time the tip is still the same, ask your surgeon what are your options then. You may want a second opinion at that time.
I trained with a surgeon who had probably done 10,000 closed rhinoplasties. I also trained with a different surgeon who only did open rhinoplasty. I never noticed a difference in swelling that was related to how the rhinoplasty was done. The biggest factors that make for prolonged swelling are...
I personally don't like foreign material in the nose. It sounds like the implant is causing too much pressure and bulk in the tip of your nose. If this is true, it could eventually erode thru the skin of the tip of the nose. I have seen many patients like this. My preference is for your own...
It sounds like you have been through a lot. While you may have a very good surgeon, it sounds like you have had several setbacks and unfortunate outcomes. You may want to consider a second opinion. Every time you operate on the nose, you are causing more scar tissue and destroying tissues...
Many patients come from all over the work to seek many different types of medical care in the United States. Because the US is home to some of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world, there are a large number of international patients who choose to have surgery all across America...
